CEO: Tech firms face high stakes in remote work "debate"

With remote work remaining as popular as ever, American businesses have serious considerations to make about what operating model they will choose going forward.

AUSTIN, Texas - March 23, 2023 - PRLog -- With remote work remaining as popular as ever, American businesses have serious considerations to make about what operating model they will choose going forward — and the kind of impact that decision will have on their reputation and overall success. In the IT field, the stakes are even higher. But it's a battle Joe Boll, Remote Worker CEO, says tech firms can't risk losing if they plan on remaining leaders in the industry.

"Most American workers still want remote jobs, that much is clear," said Boll. "But for some jobs, especially those considered highly-skilled and high-paying, the expectation of certain perks like flexibility is even higher."

Remote Worker is an online jobs board and resource website for remote workers, remote work jobseekers, and hiring managers, employers and HR personnel seeking to recruit and hire the top talent for remote positions.

Boll continued, "For jobs as high in demand as IT, tech and similar roles, businesses really can't risk finding themselves on the short end of the stick. With a limited labor force, a business can easily encounter a labor shortage, which is why it was so surprising to learn that fewer IT job opportunities are being offered as remote positions."

The CEO was referring to recent reports that the number of remote job openings being advertised appears to be decreasing overall on some websites. Those findings match up with earlier reports from major online jobs boards sites like Indeed and LinkedIn, which similarly reported a lower percentage of remote job postings since the start of the year. However, all of such reports found that remote job openings by and large received the highest number of applicants, with some candidates in certain age groups or specific fields refusing to even consider jobs that didn't offer some form of flexible work.

However, Boll argued that the remote work "debate" isn't really a debate at all, but simply a question of whether businesses will reject outdated models of work. He said, "Especially for jobs that normally struggle to find suitable candidates, like IT, staying stubborn on the remote work issue can really be doing yourself a disservice. Instead, it makes more sense to be flexible with flexibility and use resources like Remote Worker to make sure you stay on top of the game in recruiting and retaining the best talent."
