This will be the first in-person gathering since 2019. Since 2015, this meeting has been a vibrant platform for community leaders, college students, educators, immigrant communities, and enthusiasts who share an interest and passion for Quechua languages and Andean culture. This gathering serves as a multigenerational space to foster hemispheric connections among Quechua/Kichwa communities in the diaspora, and to affirm the relevance of Indigenous cultures. The program includes roundtables, Andean dance and music workshops, dynamic activities, and concerts by Kuyayky, an Andean music band from Miami, FL, and Jauja, Perú. As part of the event, Yarina, a group of Boston-based Kichwa Ecuadorian educators and musicians will receive the 2023 Quechua Lifetime Achievement Award. "It is incredibly powerful to collectively engage with Andean knowledge and voices at Harvard University," Previous editions of the Quechua Alliance Annual Meeting have been held across the United States, including Philadelphia, New York, and Ohio. "We are grateful for the support of the Andean community and university partners at Harvard for making this event possible," added Peruvian professor Américo Mendoza-Mori, who teaches at Harvard's program on Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights: "We look forward to seeing previous participants and to welcoming new members to the Quechua Alliance community for this Annual Meeting 2023." No previous knowledge of Quechua is required. For more information and registration for the Quechua Alliance Annual Meeting 2023, please visit http://thequechua.org. End
