WANTAGH, N.Y. - March 30, 2023 - PRLog -- Pulse Center for Patient Safety Education & Advocacy held its 8th Annual Symposium March 15-16, 2023. The virtual event was attended by more than 125 advocates (both professional and family), patient safety experts, and concerned individuals.

Over two days, those attending heard from expert speakers covering diverse topics, from simulations to sepsis, from hospice care to human factors design.

A unique feature of this event was that the final session of each day was dedicated to small-groups "Continuing the Conversation" with the speakers.

Keynote speaker Dr. Tejal Gandhi, Chief Safety and Transformation Officer at Press Ganey, noted, "The work of PULSE is so important to help empower patients and caregivers to partner and engage in their care, and I was thrilled to be able to speak to the conference participants."

Comments from attendees testify to the quality and value they found in the sessions. Here are several, of the dozens received.
  • "Hands down the best lecture I have seen in a long time, perhaps ever."
  • "Reaffirmed my commitment to patient safety!"
  • "What a wonderful, IMPORTANT presentation, given by someone who's obviously seen a lot over the years."

The event was supported by sponsorships from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Greater National Advocates, and a number of other supporting organizations.

All the presentations were recorded and are available free to symposium attendees for three months. In mid-June, they will also be archived in the Pulse Patient Safety Academy (https://pulsecenterforpatientsafety.org/2762-2/), where they may be viewed for a small fee. Board-Certified Patient Advocates renewing their qualification earned up to 11 Continuing Education credits for attending sessions.

This annual Symposium is just one of a number of Pulse programs, including People for Patient Safety (https://pulsecenterforpatientsafety.org/pps-2/), Patient Activation through Community Conversations (https://pulsecenterforpatientsafety.org/pacc-2/), Advocates Collaborative Educational Series (https://pulsecenterforpatientsafety.org/2676-2/) (ACES), and the upcoming 2023 edition of the TakeCHARGE Campaign: 5 Steps to Safer Health Care (https://takecharge.care/).
