MIAMI - May 6, 2023 - PRLog -- When you have been in the shipping containers business for quite some time, you might recognize the terms of certain conditions of a shipping container. The most common qualities searched in a container are Cargo Worthy (CW) and Wind & Watertight (WWT).

Acknowledging the term used when considering buying or renting a container is a good place to start. Many factors within each category can affect the container's usefulness. While your investigation should never end on the category, it's best to inspect the shipping container before buying or hiring them.

Here are the brief differences between the two terms:

Cargo Worthy (CW)

Shortly, a Cargo Worthy (CW) container means that the storage container is in an appropriate condition to be used for international cargo shipping. It also means that the container meets all the standards set in its original specification, some might have a valid CSC plate. A valid CSC plate signifies a safety approval of the container which is a must-have when hiring a used container under this category.

In the external view, a CW container should have minimum dents, scratching, and minor rust. The floor, wall, and roof may have a small number of prior repairs.

Wind & Watertight (WWT)

WWT containers are often used as storage containers. The wind and the watertight term mean that none of the two can enter the container. The container that falls under this category means that they have gone through some damage and is not capable of shipping goods overseas. The WWT containers do not meet the requirements of the CW class as they do not have a valid CSC plate.

They normally cost less than the CW container type, but are still able to serve several good years as a solid storage solution.

If you need further assistance in choosing the right container for you…

Picking the right container type will also help you the most in cutting costs for companies that are regular shippers. There are additional costs associated with the various container sizes. For instance, it costs more to deliver & reposition a 40-foot container than a 20-foot one. Besides, the size of the shipping container also determines the cost. Choosing the right container type will do you a lot of good.
