The Fibroid Pandemic Presents 5K Run and Panel Discussion Event for Fibroid Awareness

ATLANTA - May 19, 2023 - PRLog -- The fibroid awareness organization The Fibroid Pandemic has announced its second annual fibroid awareness event. Following a successful inaugural event in 2021, the organization continues to bring awareness and resources to those throughout Atlanta through fun and interactive education. Their Run F.A.R. 5K Run/Walk and in-person Fibroid Brunch panel will take place during Fibroid Awareness Month in July 2023.

The Fibroid Pandemic was founded in response to founder LaToya Dwight's personal battle with uterine fibroids. After a successful recovery, it became her mission to help others overcome fibroids. Since 2019, The Fibroid  Pandemic has provided resources to humans with a uterus seeking to heal from uterine fibroids, non-cancerous tumors of the uterus.

Studies show approximately 70% of humans with a uterus develop fibroids during childbearing age. Of this population, 80% are Black. Founder LaToya Dwight states, "fibroids are not a death sentence! Stop the silent suffering and get back into the driver's seat of health and take your life back. You owe it to yourself and the millions of other Black humans with a uterus across the globe who have forgotten to put themselves first. It's time to make a paradigm shift in healthcare by linking arms and "running far" together!

The inaugural Run F.A.R. 5K Run/Walk on July 24th, 2021 debuted as the only 5K run/walk for fibroid awareness on the continent. The event received 25 sponsorships including popular organizations such as Radio One Atlanta, The Honey Pot Co, and New York Life.

This year's event kicks off  Friday, July 14th, 2023 with the Fibroid Brunch panel in Atlanta from 12pm - 7pm EST. The F.A.R. 5K Run/Walk will return to Still Family Farm in Powder Springs, GA on Saturday July 15th, 2023 at 8am EST with projected double registration and expanded reach. A portion of the proceeds will go to Pad The Pandemic, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to help eliminate period poverty and unnecessary hysterectomies.
