By: Henry Turner Jr.s Listening Room Museum Foundation A Taste of the Deep South Festival takes place at Riverfront Plaza on October 7 and 8 from 12:00pm to 8:00pm. The event features various genres of music. Saturday focuses on reggae and world music. Special guests to date include Ben E. Hunter and Princess Teha. Other talent expected to appear include blues great Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor, SmokeHouse Porter and Miss Mamie, the Listening Room All-Stars including Kelton 'Npsire Harper and the Inspiration Band, Owen Scott, Pastor Leon Hitchens, comedian Eddie "Cool" Deemer and the Listening Room House Band Ervin "Maestro" Foster, Jim Masters and Larry "LZ" Dillon. Lisa Harris returns with her Tina Turner Tribute along with international cultural dance troupes. The festival also has Vendor's Village with arts and crafts, clothing and jewelry and a Food Court with southern festival food favorites. Special VIP tickets are available on the website. VIP Experience cost is $25.00 and includes two meal and two soft drink tickets. Turner VIP tickets are $100 for two people with two T-shirts, four meal and drink tickets, covered seating in the VIP access tent and a "Now" CD by Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor.
