Niagara Falls resident wins 2023 Toastmasters District 86 Communications Award

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - June 25, 2023 - PRLog -- Lori Lococo, of Niagara Falls, Ontario, received the 2023 Communications and Leadership Award from Toastmasters International District 86.
The second-term City Councilor in Niagara Falls credits her 15 years as a member of Toastmasters for helping her build communication and leadership skills she uses every day.
The award was announced in April at the District 86 conference for organized by Toastmasters clubs across southwestern Ontario.
Lococo joined Toastmasters in 2001 to help her feel more confident in a new employment role. After the first Toastmasters meeting, Lori was hooked.
"Lori is a stellar example of how Toastmasters membership builds self-confidence, leadership, and public speaking skills that make a big community impact," said Deridor Collier, DTM, District 86 Director from Hamilton, Ontario.
Lococo has a history of community involvement, from serving on boards for arts, community and public safety organizations to election in 2018 to Niagara Falls city council.
Toastmasters helps people practice and build their personal and business self-confidence in a self-paced education program, at online, hybrid, and in-person club meetings.
"Toastmasters offers a safe and supportive environment for members to learn and grow their communications skills for career and personal growth," Collier said.
Lori was the inaugural Toastmasters District 86 Governor in 2008-2009. She also served on the Toastmasters International Board as an International Director for the 2012-2014 term.
She cherishes her 15-year Toastmasters adventure and is honoured to be accepting the Communication and Leadership award. "I am so honoured to be chosen for this award", Lori said. "Toastmasters really helped me in my career and I still use the skills I acquired to serve the City of Niagara Falls".
