Eagle Telemedicine and CareSource team up with Local Atlanta Nonprofit on Summer Camp

ATLANTA - June 26, 2023 - PRLog -- Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation, Inc., (LHTYF) will partner with Eagle Telemedicine and CareSource to present a summer health education program titled Healthy Kids Summer Camp™ at Ronald McNair Discovery Learning Academy in Dekalb County, GA. The program is one of LHTYF's core health education programs to teach children about healthy lifestyles, so they are more likely to avoid obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.

The Healthy Kids Summer Camp™ will run the week of June 26, and focuses on interactive health lessons taught by professionals in the areas of medicine, healthcare, fitness, and culinary arts. The goal of the program is to teach children the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle throughout their childhood so that they can have a solid foundation for better health as young adults.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), obesity currently affects four out of 10 Americans. While weight and overall health are not always connected, obesity is often considered a cause of chronic medical conditions, including type 2 diabetes, some forms of cancer, and heart disease. "Educating children at an early age on the dangers of obesity, diabetes, and hypertension are critical if we want to see the next generation have healthier lives and outcomes," said Dr. Lori A. Manns, president of Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation, Inc.

Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation strives to teach children how to live healthy, balanced lifestyles to avoid future health risks.  One of LHTYF's core goals is to grow the number of children enrolled in their health programs.
