EDISON, N.J. - June 28, 2023 - PRLog -- University and Beyond Reveals Startling Findings on College Preparedness of High School Students

Edison, NJ - University and Beyond, a leading research and peer to peer student community    in the field of education, has conducted an extensive study on the college preparedness of high school students. The research study involved a sample size of 1000 students from grades 9 to 12, with 250 students representing each grade, along with their parents. The objective was to assess the level of preparedness and perceptions surrounding the college application process.

The findings of the study revealed significant insights into the challenges faced by high school students and their parents when preparing for college. Out of the 1000 students surveyed, a staggering 89%  reported feeling ill-prepared for the college application process.

Similarly, 92.5% of the surveyed parents expressed their belief that the college application process is a source of stress for their children. This finding emphasizes the need for improved support and guidance to alleviate the stress associated with college applications.

In addition, the study highlighted the perception of opacity surrounding college admissions in top-tier schools. An overwhelming 95%  of the surveyed students expressed their concern about the lack of transparency in the admissions process. This finding underscores the importance of enhancing transparency and fairness in college admissions.

The study also delved into the financial investments made by parents to prepare their children for college. Among the surveyed parents, 73.5% revealed spending between $15,000 and $25,000 on college preparation activities, such as college counseling, out-of-school coding classes, STEM programs, art programs, and more, starting from middle school. Moreover, 12.8% of parents indicated spending between $25,000 and $30,000, while the remaining parents stated spending over $30,000 on these activities.

"We hope that our research sparks conversations and leads to actionable solutions that will empower students and ease the burden on parents in navigating the college application process."
