ST. PAUL, Minn. - July 21, 2023 - PRLog -- Dr. Artika Tyner, founder of Planting People Growing Justiceā„¢ Leadership Institute (PPGJLI), announced that the nonprofit organization will be participating in Black Philanthropy Month (BPM) which runs throughout the month of August. PPGJLI is seeking to raise $10,000. All donations will be matched dollar for dollar by a donor who wishes to remain anonymous for an additional $10,000.

Funds will be used to support the Leaders are Readers program. Our nationally recognized Leaders are Readers program has helped thousands of Black students find joy in reading and discover their leadership potential. Through classroom visits, read-alouds, and diverse book donations, we bring positive messaging and relatable characters to youth.

The organization's programs and initiatives are a model for creating a Black Ecosystem. It's a model developed by Tyner after 10 years of research that's essential to achieve financial equity, economic mobility, and self-sufficiency. PPGJLI brings together resources encompassing teach-ins, community training, art exhibitions, and video documentaries and videos.

The theme for Black Philanthropy Month 2023 is "Black Love in Action," and celebrates love as a necessary foundation for lasting social change. The theme is inspired by the writings of the late scholar and activist, bell hooks. Black Philanthropy Month 2023 spotlights the core meaning of philanthropy as a love of all humanity that includes the power of self-love within the Black community.

The underlying tenets of BPM reach far beyond financial considerations. Giving during BPM is a matter of universal human rights that supports racial, social, economic gender, and environmental justice.

As a nonprofit organization, PPGJLI (https://www.ppgjli.org/) relies on the generosity of supporters and strategic partnerships within the community to provide youth-oriented programs, initiatives, and services. Every $10 inspires a young person with a new book to call their own and helps to unveil their potential.

Black Philanthropy Month runs throughout the month of August and PPGJLI is hoping to raise $10,000 during that time. Donations of any amount are welcome and be matched dollar for dollar.
