PRLog -- METAvivor, the organization at the helm of metastatic breast cancer (MBC) research funding, has partnered with the honorable Bill Miranda, Eva Miranda Crawford & Amy Steffe Lohmann to promote the Gala to be held on Saturday, September 9 at PORSCHE SANTA CLARITA. The event titled "MET GALA SCV" is the second annual event and only gala on the west coast. The co-hosts are joined by Event Coordinator Pamela Verner. The event will feature a cocktail hour with drinks and appetizers followed by a program, dinner, silent and live auctions.
Stage 4, MBC is the only terminal breast cancer. It is called metastatic because the cancer cells leave the original tumor site and spread (metastasize)
to other parts of the body, most commonly bones, liver, lungs, and brain. Today, patients live longer after an MBC diagnosis thanks to research into new and targeted treatments.
Even so, less than a third make it past five (5) years. This is devastating to patients. With more funds focused specifically on MBC research, we believe this can transform the disease from terminal to survivable with a good quality of life. Research is truly the only way to save the lives of those living with MBC.
Galas have the potential to raise millions of dollars for research. The Met Gala SCV is one of many fundraising galas and events organized nationwide by patient advocatess volunteering for METAvivor (
https://metavivor.org/)
, with proceeds from the events going to MBC research. METAvivor is a volunteer-led, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, and the only one in the US that exclusively funds MBC research through a scientific peer-review process.
