Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters Launches National Interpreter Trainers Huddle

WASHINGTON - Aug. 22, 2023 - PRLog -- The Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) is pleased to announce the creation of a new program in support of trainers and educators of healthcare interpreters. The National Interpreter Trainers Huddle will be an opportunity for interpreter trainers to collaborate, exchange ideas and explore new opportunities to enhance their training offerings in an effort to bolster practitioners of healthcare interpretation.

"Interpreter trainers are an integral part of the language access community and play an important role in educating new and practicing interpreters. We've seen such a positive response to our National Language Access Leadership Huddle that it only seemed natural to replicate the model for those who are focused on the development of educational content for interpreters working in healthcare," stated CCHI Executive Director Natalya Mytareva.

The need to improve and offer more training for healthcare interpreters cannot be overstated. Most interpreter trainers and educators work remote and independently, necessitating opportunities to come together in an open forum to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and continue to enhance educational content and training methods.

"Interpreter trainers play such a crucial role in raising standards for healthcare interpreting and therefore improving services for patients and contributing to health equity," stated Johanna Parker, CCHI Commissioner and trainer from San Francisco, CA. The National Interpreter Trainers Huddles will kick off on October 13 at 7pm CT and will continue meeting on a quarterly basis thereafter.
