By: Romanza Festivale of Music and the Arts The Collage Concert Series begins in October with the Jonathan Dotson Concert, to be held on Saturday, October 28 at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Jonathan Dotson, a virtuoso classical guitarist, presents Guitar Wizardry, a program of Spanish guitar music spanning nearly five centuries, from early music of the 1500s to contemporary arrangements and original works. Yael "ZaZa Flamenca" starring in the Soiree á Paris concert performs on Saturday, November 11 beginning at 7:30 p.m.. The audience will experience a night of music and stories about the incomparable Edith Piaf as a singer, songwriter and guitarist. The program focuses on Piaf's French heritage and language with a distinctive presentation into her music and life. Also, the On Point A Cappella Quartet will perform during Collage on January 27, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. On Point is a captivating barbershop quartet that began in Jacksonville, FL under the guidance of Dr. Timothy Workman. Since 2016, the Quartet has taken their harmonious talents to stages across the United States. The quartet earned recognition for their exceptional vocal blends and versatile repertoire. From classic barbershop melodies to modern a cappella arrangements, the Quartet consistently delivers memorable performances which bridge the past and present. Classically Black: Piano Compositions by Composers of African American Descent will commemorate Black History Month on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. The concert and talk presented by Dr. Alston includes his performance as a masterful pianist and recitalist. A graduate of the Juilliard School of Music with both his bachelor's and master's degrees, Dr. Alston has performance credits ranging from recitals to guest soloist with orchestras, along with live opera, and recordings. He is a sought-after instructor in the northeastern U.S. Tickets for Guitar Wizardry and Soiree á Paris are currently available.
