A scientist use VR to construct a future ecological city

TAOYUAN, Taiwan - Oct. 17, 2023 - PRLog -- Many scientific studies have already proven that simply planting trees in cities or buildings does not help reduce carbon emissions, but it has become the mainstream, which is regrettable. Fortunately, the so-called ecological buildings with a large number of balcony trees have caused many problems, which has made people start to re-examine and rethink.

Sustainable ecological architecture is a very deep and cross-disciplinary technology. Dr. Hung-Chih Lu said that real sustainable ecological architecture must combine different fields of technology, with the premise of minimizing the harm to nature, maximizing recycling as the criterion, insulation, energy saving and power generation as the driving force, so as to achieve carbon neutrality, or even negative carbon emission ecological architecture.

He created a VR animation film to demonstrate the standard example. This VR animation film was completed entirely with VR tools, took half a year, and can output executable files to provide VR simulation experience, not just a general animation film.

This creation is based on Tengyun Village in Wanhua District, Taipei City. The entire village is vertically stacked into a building. This building is a vertical ecological city, named: [The Crystal], as shown in Figure 1; maintaining the same or even higher volume, but reducing the land used for construction and reducing the damage to the environment.

The overall building is SS steel structure and glass curtain wall, supplemented by imitation wood and imitation stone as building materials, all of which are non-toxic and recyclable, and will not harm any grass or wood, sand or stone; secondly, colored solar energy curtain glass is placed on the roof, west and south of the building body with the image of blue crystal pillars, in addition to power generation and heat insulation, reducing a large amount of air conditioning power consumption, and using optical reflection principle to introduce appropriate light into the middle area to increase lighting without exposure.

The total area of solar curtain glass is about 11,600 square meters. Each square meter of laminated glass can accommodate 100W solar cells. Therefore, the total installed power of solar energy is about 1MW, which is equivalent to a medium-sized solar power plant. It can not only achieve zero-carbon buildings, but also become negative-carbon buildings if maintained properly.

Trees and flowers are only planted on terraces and rooftops. Sky gardens and solar corridors form beautiful gardens and public leisure spaces. Because they are public spaces and the terraces and rooftops are large, they are easy to manage centrally and will not have many problems like as balcony planting. As shown in Figure 2.
