By: Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful Representing the only nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States, America Recycles Day is a Keep America Beautiful (KAB) initiative launched in 1994. Last year, KAB affiliates and volunteers recycled over 14.9 MILLION POUNDS of recyclables. In addition to the act of recycling, the day is intended to encourage the use of products made from recycled materials. Recycling helps reduce landfill waste and conserve precious natural resources such as forests. "While many of our residents take advantage of the county's curbside recycling program, some items can't be recycled at the curb," said Schelly Marlatt, GC&B Executive Director.
