LOS ANGELES - Nov. 22, 2023 - PRLog -- Subject To Change, a creative consultancy company, announced today the inaugural 'Love, Peace & Spades Invitational,' an official Spades tournament done in collaboration with The Game of Spades and sponsored by Bicycle Cards.

Set to take place on Wednesday, December 6th, at The LINE Hotel, 'Love, Peace & Spades' celebrates a full 365 days of providing a sacred space for the Black, intergenerational community to enjoy classic family games such as Bid Whist, Tonk/Tunk, Dominoes, and, of course, Spades.

Through the intersection of music, tech, education, and play, 'Love, Peace & Spades' spotlighted Black-owned companies such as The Salt Eaters Bookshop in Inglewood, incorporated skills-based curriculum through "Spades Academy," and became an integral part of building a hush harbor for Black people as part of the 2023 Leimert Park Juneteenth Festival.

"'Love, Peace & Spades' highlights a community staple in Black Los Angeles, that's having a renaissance," writes Jaelani Turner-White, who covered the event for the Los Angeles Times in September.

Clark, a New York-based journalist who has written for notable publications such as Essence, Black Enterprise, BET, etc., is the mastermind behind 'Love, Peace & Spades.' For the official Spades tournament, 32 teams will vie for prizes and bragging rights, while players from across the City of Angels will cultivate meaningful and long-lasting relationships through the trick-taking game of Spades.

Back when the event launched on Dec. 21, 2022, the night was successful and well-attended, full of locals, industry tastemakers, game aficionados, and influencers. Hosted by Jamilah Lemieux (First Wives Club), notable people such as Simone A. White (SVP, Blavity), Olu of EarthGang (Dreamville Records), Alex Ritchie (Recording Academy member), and more because of the need to address the disparity and inequity of play within the Black community.

"This tournament is not just about cards; it's a celebration of our first anniversary, it's about thanking our family and friends, and enjoying the thrill of passion and competition," says Clark about the upcoming event.

The Black-owned card deck company, The Game of Spades, joins sponsor Bicycle Cards in producing this event that will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6th from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm PT at The LINE Hotel.
