SAN ANTONIO - Nov. 24, 2023 - PRLog -- Mission Sleep, the life changing non-profit for military and first responders has arrived in Texas just in time for Giving Tuesday!  The 501c3 charity offers free care to military and first responder families whose newborns arrive when a parent is deployed, wounded, or deceased.  The charity that started in Washington DC is now open to families in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, TX.

What's Mission Sleep?
Mission Sleep is the non-profit arm of Let Mommy Sleep, a company that originated in 2010 with a simple yet impactful service: baby nurses and night nannies caring for newborns overnight.

Allowing parents to rest and recover from childbirth has been proven to positively affect families by:
- curbing postpartum depression in both parents
- increasing safe sleep practices
- decreasing accidents due to sleep deprivation
- decreasing hospital readmissions for babies and parents

Although the concept is not new, accessibility of postpartum support has diminished over time due to geographic dispersion, work commitments, and gaps in health insurance coverage. After the seeing the immediate and dramatic results of overnight support, the founder of Let Mommy Sleep felt called to bring the service to those who serve all of us.

How Does Mission Sleep Work?
Overnight newborn care by a Registered Nurse or Certified Newborn Care Provider (NCP) is available at no charge for 3-5 nights, depending on the needs of the family.  Military and first responder spouses whose partners are deployed, wounded or deceased are eligible.

Here is how it works:
1. Care is coordinated by contacting the local Let Mommy Sleep office in Dallas, Houston or San Antonio.
2. Once the location and details of the family's need are obtained, a caregiver is submitted for the family approval.
3. Overnight care is then confirmed and can happen whenever the family wishes.

More About Mission Sleep
Launched in 2012 as Operation: Sleep and now known as Mission Sleep, the 501c3 non-profit has gained national recognition with appearances on NBC4, FOXNews, and as a guest at the White House Summit for Working Families. Despite a temporary suspension of services due to COVID, the charity is back and fully prepared to resume their mission, having achieved a Gold Level Transparency listing on GuideStar.org, the world's largest source of information on nonprofit organizations.
