BOOKSMILES Book Bank Distributes Over 1.6 Million Books Surpassing Milestone

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - Dec. 5, 2023 - PRLog -- [Pennsauken, NJ] — In a remarkable achievement, BookSmiles, a non-profit
organization dedicated to fostering a love for reading among underserved children,
proudly announces that it has successfully distributed over 1.6 million books to
hundreds of thousands of needy children throughout Philadelphia and New Jersey.
This significant milestone makes them one of the largest book banks in the country.
It underscores the organization's unwavering commitment to promoting literacy and
educational equity in communities facing socio-economic challenges.
Since its inception in 2017, BookSmiles has worked tirelessly to bridge the literacy
gap by providing quality upcycled books for children who may not otherwise have
the means to build their home libraries. The organization's innovative and
community-driven approach has garnered widespread support and enabled the
distribution of an impressive number of books to schools, community centers, and
organizations serving disadvantaged youth.

BookSmiles has surpassed the 1.6 million books distribution mark ahead of
schedule. In addition, I am particularly proud that we did it all by upcycling quality
books that could likely have ended up in landfills, thereby contributing to both

In just a few short years, the non-profit BookSmiles went from distributing 5,000
books a month out of English teacher Larry Abrams' Lindenwold, NJ classroom to
55,000+ books a month out of a 4,300 square foot South Jersey warehouse.
