Multiples of America 63rd National Convention Heading to Louisville, Kentucky

By: Multiples of America

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Jan. 2, 2024 - PRLog -- Multiples of America (also known as the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs, Inc.) plans to head to the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky for its 2024 annual meeting, to be held July 25-27.

This convention will bring together parents and caregivers of multiples from around the nation. Attendees will connect with information and ideas, hear motivational speakers and participate in workshops. They will build networks of support with other parents as they discuss parenting challenges and chapter leadership issues. They will also come together as an organization to review business and determine new directions. A review of speaker and workshop presentations in Multiple Connections, the organization's member publication, will give members not in attendance at convention a chance to connect with the information and ideas presented in Louisville.

"Multiples of America is excited to be heading to Louisville this summer," said Kim Simonich, Events Vice President. "We've found Louisville to be a city built on coming in first, and this annual convention represents a lot of firsts for our organization. Above all, it's the first time in our organization's history that we'll be holding a convention in Kentucky."

Founded in 1960, Multiples of America has been growing its supports for over six decades, all primarily powered through the work of volunteers. Through those years, the organization has supported expectant and new parents as they cope with the distinctive, often overwhelming, challenges in raising multiples. Challenges can include day-to-day care, as well as the medical, emotional, financial, and educational issues that often arise – not just in the early years, but into toddlerhood, school years, and beyond. Multiples of America has also provided an abundance of scientific and medically-based research, in excess of 200 studies for the purpose of informing and educating parents and caregivers on conditions that may be more frequently experienced with multiple births.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) continues to point toward the need for a support organization such as Multiples of America. The CDC documents around 31 twins per 1,000 births, with 54% of twins born with low birth weight and 59% born preterm. Nearly all of higher order multiples (triples, quadruplets, etc.) are born preterm.
