Follow on Google News | Multiple Birth Awareness Month Shows All the Ways "We Are in the World"By: Multiples of America It's a theme well-fitted to an organization that has been helping parents navigate the journey of raising multiples (twins, triplets, and other higher order multiples) for 63 years. The focus of "We Are in the World" highlights the story of families who are raising multiple birth children. While each family is unique, they travel through many of the same joys and challenges as they support the specific needs of their multiples, across the years. Those needs can span many areas: medical, educational, social, emotional. Being a part of a local parents of multiples chapter gives parents many of the tools and supports they need to answer those needs. According to Mary Adcock, President of Multiples of America, these clubs and the national organization offer parents a range of live and online events, quality educational information, and a base of multiple-specific research. "Multiples of America provides parents of twins, triplets or more with a valuable connection. In today's world, so many of our connections are short or fleeting: a comment on Facebook, an answer found on a web browser. The connections made through our local chapters and national organization go deeper. They provide a bridge to understanding, information, and support, plus personal connections that can span a lifetime," she said. Today, Multiples of America builds that support through more than 130 local chapter across the nation. On some days, celebrations for this year's Multiple Birth Awareness month will just be a continuation of the work many do every day, every month: meal trains for expectant and new parents of multiples, preemie clothing closets, answers to questions concerning classroom placement of multiples, support during times of special need or bereavement. At other times, celebrations will be specialized to 2024: special local or statewide gatherings, and a flat multiple social media campaign illustrating all the 365/24/7 ways multiples are in the world. All celebrations will be connected through a hashtag: #multiplesareintheworld.
