Drummer Sam Holmstock receives grant from Mass Cultural CouncilBy: Sam Holmstock - Drum Strategies for Healing Sam provides access to drumming and music to the Students of the Cape Cod Collaborative's STAR Program at The Collaborative School in Osterville. This program will serve 60+ students at the school on a weekly basis. Sam Holmstock, through his organization Drum Strategies for Healing, helps to make music and rhythm accessible to numerous neurodiverse populations. This public support from the Mass Cultural Council enables Drum Strategies for Healing to reach new audiences - fostering community development; Senator Julian Cyr commented, "I am grateful for Mass Cultural Council community investments that support the good work of local artists such as Sam. His music program with the Cape Cod Collaborative's STAR program brings music, rhythm, levity, and community to neurodiverse Cape learners." The Mass Cultural Council has a budget of $15.7 million dollars, including an appropriation of nearly $14 million dollars from the state of Massachusetts and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and other sources. The agency also runs the Mass Cultural Facilities Fund in partnership with MassDevelopment. Mass Cultural Council funds reach every community in the Commonwealth. Its mission is to promote excellence, education, access and diversity in the arts, humanities and sciences, to improve the quality of life for all Massachusetts residents and contribute to the vitality of our communities and economy.
