How it all started? One of WRAP's acclaimed resident artists Derek Gores gave a workshop to a local school in Lagos two years ago and a collection of astonishing art came out as a result. Now some of these 500+ artworks are in Philadelphia, PA on exhibit in Cherry Street Pier at the Walls for Justice space until the end of March, 2024. The exhibit has been extended due to great interest and demand from the local community. We are seeking support in bringing awareness to this show and what is happening back home in Nigeria while the show is on display in the US. At 4 am on Feb 11, 2024 the village of Ijora Badia where the artists lived was demolished and now many residents are homeless. Slum Art Foundation started a grassroots effort in helping the relocation. Proceeds from the show will go to supprot the village of Ijora Badia displaced residents. The story of this collection is a true reflection of the fight for justice, cry out against climate change, and protection of basic human rights.
