We will welcome the esteemed Fayetteville State University Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Denise Murchison Payton, Director of Choral Activities. The worship service will commence at 9:55 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church. The Fayetteville State University Concert Choir has talented students from diverse academic disciplines. The choir embraces various musical styles and has garnered acclaim through performances across the United States, Europe, and Canada. With roots tracing back to 1883, the choir's legacy is steeped in excellence and innovation in vocal music education. Dr. Thomas D. Tyler, Minister of Worship, Evangelism, and Discipleship, shares, "At Shiloh Baptist Church, we believe in the transformative power of music to nourish the spirit and foster connection within our community. We are delighted to welcome the Fayetteville State University Concert Choir to our sanctuary, where their voices will resonate with our church's rich history and tradition." The Fayetteville State University Concert Choir, led by directors such as George Van Hoy Collins, Mary T. Eldridge, Lemuel Berry, and Marvin V. Curtis, has expanded its repertoire and influence. Under Denise Murchison Payton's dynamic direction since 2008, the choir has grown in size and reputation, with additional ensembles gaining prominence. Dr. Payton's tenure saw the choir achieve invitations to prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, along with international tours to Colombia and South America. The choir continues to inspire global audiences with an unwavering commitment to excellence and musical education.
