Follow on Google News | Advocates Rally in Support of Crucial Horse Welfare Legislation in the Senate of Puerto RicoSenate Resolution 846, introduced by Senator Rios Santiago, calls for the establishment of a dedicated Horse Sanctuary in Puerto Rico. This sanctuary would serve as a safe haven for horses in need, providing them with shelter, care, and rehabilitation. Additionally, Senate Resolution 826, presented by Senator Riquelme Cabrera, advocates for recurring funding to support horses removed from el Hipodromo Camarero. This funding would ensure that these magnificent animals receive the ongoing care and attention necessary for their well-being. Furthermore, Senate Resolution 451, also spearheaded by Senator Rios Santiago, seeks funding for municipalities to assist in the care and support of horses throughout Puerto Rico. This vital funding would enable local authorities to provide essential services and resources for these animals. "These resolutions represent significant strides towards safeguarding the welfare of Puerto Rico's horses," stated Kelley Stobie spokesperson for Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare. "It is imperative that we come together as a community to ensure the well-being of these cherished animals and preserve our island's equestrian heritage, and show the world that we DO take care of our animals." In support of these crucial initiatives, advocates are organizing a demonstration to coincide with the Senate proceedings. The demonstration will take place April 3rd, 2024 at 10:00 am, at ton the steps of the capital in San Juan - where supporters will gather to raise awareness and show solidarity for the proposed legislation.
