Upward Bound is a year-round, multi-year program designed for high school students who have the potential to succeed in college and will benefit from tutoring, academic enrichment, pre-college skills development, career counseling, college visits, cultural enrichment and year-round academic and social support. The longest-serving charter school in New Bedford is a tuition-free public charter school that serves 500 students in grades 5-12. GLCPS offers a small, personalized, college preparatory learning environment in which students are encouraged to realize their full potential, both academically and personally. "We are excited about the success this program has been providing to our students," said Dr. Stephen Furtado, Executive Director of GLCPS. "Underclassman have seen the difference that this program has made in the lives of our older students in preparing them for success in continuing their educations. We thank UMass Dartmouth for offering this life changing pathway to a promising future for our life-long learners." GLCPS is a tuition-free public charter school serving 500 New Bedford students in Grades 5-12. Students are enrolled through a blind lottery.
