Follow on Google News | United Way of Palm Beach County Hosts 600 Bank of America Volunteers to Support Families in NeedUnited Way of Palm Beach County, with Bank of America and Palm Beach County Food Bank, hosted an event addressing food insecurity. 600 Bank of America volunteers packed 5,000 backpacks with nutritious meals for Palm Beach County children in need.
The event, held at The Boca Raton, marked a significant effort to support the Weekend Backpack Program, an initiative designed to provide essential nutrition to children over the weekend and during the critical summer months when access to school meal programs are limited. These backpacks will be distributed to food-insecure children through more than 40 partner agency sites across Palm Beach County. Bank of America has been a longstanding supporter of United Way of Palm Beach County through corporate grants and volunteerism. Collaborative efforts like this play a crucial role in addressing food insecurity throughout the community. More than 132,000 residents in Palm Beach County struggle with hunger. 37,350 of these residents are children who do not have enough to eat on a daily basis. "Families are really struggling right now," said Dr. Laurie George, president and CEO of United Way of Palm Beach County. "We're all going to the grocery store and seeing the price increase across goods. Being able to provide students and their families with healthy and nutritious food over the weekend and throughout the summer helps remove uncertainty and alleviates stress." The volunteer event hosted by United Way of Palm Beach County, in collaboration with Bank of America and the Palm Beach County Food Bank, exemplifies the power of collective action in addressing critical issues facing our community. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need. For more information about United Way of Palm Beach County and its initiatives, visit https://UnitedWayPBC.org. End
