May saw more new candidates searching for travel jobs than at any point since last November, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment. Mixed month for new job placements The number of new travel job placements dipped back by 15 per cent in May, but still recorded the second highest total in the past 10 months. Compared to the same month last year, May's total was down by eight per cent. There was also a five per cent fall in the number of new travel job vacancies last month, with May's total dipping to its lowest level so far this year. The figure was down by 55 per cent from the same month in 2023. Speaking about the stats, Barbara Kolosinska, Managing Director at C&M Travel Recruitment (http://www.candm.co.uk/ "But with new candidates falling in April then rising in May, while new job placements increased in April but dipped last month, once again we're seeing inconsistency in the travel recruitment market with no clear trajectory. As we enter the holiday season and the added distractions of the Euros, we're unlikely to see a big increase in overall activity but this could create opportunities for companies to snap up quality candidates searching for new travel roles over the quieter summer months."
