By: SGS The original measures were approved in May 2021, revising 18 V.S.A of the state's statutes by adding several chapters and amended § 1773 in relation to chemicals of high concern to children (CHCC). On May 30, 2024, these measures were amended with the signing into law of S25. This act will become effective on July 1, 2024, with its provisions being implemented in phases from that date. Products covered by the amendment include: - Aftermarket stain and water-resistant treatments for rugs and carpets - Artificial turfs - Cookware - Incontinency protection products - Juvenile products - Ski wax - Residential rugs and carpets - Textiles and textile articles - Class B firefighting foam - Personal protective equipment (PPE) - Food packaging In addition to PFAS, the amendments also relate to bisphenols and ortho-phthalates. SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that will impact their ability to operate. SafeGuardS 086.24 provides a useful overview of the changes implemented in Vermont.
