Serious Allegations of Racketeering and Corporate Responsibility Rock Liberty University

Lawsuit Filed by Former Employee leads Investigation of Potential Co-Conspirators in Racketeering Case Against IT Leadership, Unveiling Deeper Corruption and Financial Exploitation.

LYNCHBURG, Va. - June 26, 2024 - PRLog -- Liberty University faces unprecedented legal challenges as former employee Matthew McGee files a lawsuit alleging senior IT staff engaged in racketeering activities under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). Filed on June 14, 2024, in Lynchburg Circuit Court, the lawsuit asserts that senior IT leadership at Liberty University orchestrated a systematic cover-up of cybersecurity breaches and operational misconduct.

Mr. McGee's complaint contends that Liberty University, through its senior IT staff, operated as an enterprise under RICO statutes. Allegations include deliberate concealment of cybersecurity vulnerabilities and breaches, deceptive practices to mislead auditing systems, and intentional mismanagement of sensitive information.

Furthermore, the lawsuit alleges that Liberty University may have obtained cybersecurity insurance using false and misleading statements on insurance applications or audits. Mr. McGee asserts that university officials misrepresented the security of their systems to auditors and insurance companies, knowing that accurate disclosures would likely prevent them from obtaining coverage due to inadequate cybersecurity measures in place.

Mr. McGee further alleges that the enterprise, through its illegal activities, profited with raises, bonuses, and promotions for involved senior IT staff. Additionally, LU IT Leadership members operate outside companies providing IT contracting services outside LU's main operations, some of which allegedly bill back services directly to the university and which they benefit from their positions at LU for credibility, flexibility, and experience reference. This arrangement, Mr. McGee claims, leads to unjust enrichment through monetary and non-monetary benefits obtained under false pretenses and performance.  Such unjust enrichment likely lead to the basis of senior IT Leadership coverups.

"Currently, the team is actively investigating additional potential defendants," stated Mr. McGee. "If our investigation leads to additional individuals as co-conspirators and defendants we will add them to this action.  We believe our investigation will uncover more evidence of LU staff involvement in the alleged racketeering and misconduct."

In response to these multifaceted allegations, Mr. McGee seeks $25,000,000 in damages and emphasizes the importance of upholding ethical standards and legal compliance in university operations.

Note to editors: Allegations in this press release are currently under litigation and remain unproven.
