PEARLAND, Texas - June 26, 2024 - PRLog -- This is week three of Empowered Wellness a six week study on empowering communities to improve their health and take charge of living a better life. This inspirational work was created by Certified Nutritionist, Linda Leon, after helping many people improve their wellness. Health is not about just staying out of the hospital, but rather a rich and fulfilling livelihood because of a personal investment in wellbeing. This includes physical health, mental health and spiritual health. In week three we cover meaningful weight loss and personal growth.

Congratulations on making it to week 3 of the course! By now, you have gained a solid understanding of holistic health and wellness, as well the importance of nourishing your body with nutritious foods. Now, it's time to dive into weight loss and fitness.

Many people embark on weight loss, and fitness journeys without setting realistic goals. This often leads to frustration and disappointment when the desired results are not achieved. In this chapter, we will learn how to set achievable goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART goals).

Understanding the Importance of SMART Goals

SMART goals provide a clear roadmap for your weight loss and fitness journey. They give you focus and direction, making it easier to stay motivated and track your progress. Let's break down what each aspect of a SMART goal represents:
  • Specific: Your goal should be clear and well-defined. It is not enough to simply say, "I want to lose weight." Instead, specify the amount of weight you want to lose.
  • Measurable: You need to track your progress towards your goal. Setting measurable goals allows you to monitor your success and make adjustments if necessary.
  • Attainable: Make sure your goal is within reach. It should challenge you, but it should also be realistically achievable based on your current circumstances.
  • Relevant: Your weight loss and fitness goals should align with your overall health and wellness objectives. They should be relevant to your specific needs and aspirations.
  • Time-bound: Set a specific timeframe within which you want to achieve your goal. This will help create a sense of urgency and prevent procrastination.
