WASHINGTON -

PRLog -- Despite growing requests from members of his own party as well as from major media outlets and mega donors, poll numbers falling as a result of his disastrous debate and later disturbing interview on ABC TV, the need for his wife to help him very gingerly descend the few steps from the debate podium (
video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0djN1AR7UNk) to appear in GOP ads), confusion in radio interviews despite preparing beforehand
knowing the questions (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13608941/joe-biden-replacement-donald-trump-polls-president.html), visits to the White House by a neurology specialist whose recent research focused on "early stage" of brain degenerative disorder
suddenly (https://www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2024/07/why-has-kevin-cannard-been-visiting-the-white-house-so-often-lately) beginning on a monthly basis,
predictions by many neurological experts of rapid decline in cognitive functions, the need for his staff to
provide him (https://www.axios.com/2024/07/07/biden-staff-events-prepare) with pictures about how to enter a room, a
congressional investigation (https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2024/07/07/house-go...) about alleged coverups of his possible Parkinsonism, and other seemingly overwhelming pressures, President Joe Biden has nevertheless thrown down the gauntlet to all his detractors and promised not to step down as a candidate.
So it is perhaps logical that now more consideration is being given,
both here and abroad (http://banzhaf.net/PLANC.html), to what is called Plan B - allow Biden to remain on the ballot, but pair him with a new running mate.
As a possible variant of such a Plan C, Biden could even announce before the election that he would resign immediately after his inauguration - hereby not bowing to pressure based upon concerns about his mental competence, but rather to simply retire from public life as a statesman who never surrenders and remained undefeated.
A Biden-Obama ticket would have a much better chance of beating Trump than the current Biden-Harris one, and none of the other alternatives to Biden+X appear to be in any better position to win the presidency, argues Banzhaf.
While some have tried to argue that the Constitution would prohibit that, Banzhaf and three other constitutional scholars
[Dan Convene (https://www.google.com/url?esrc=s&q=&rct=j&sa=U&url=https://digitalcommons.law.uga.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi%3Farticle%3D2011%26context%3Dfac_artchop&ved=2ahUKEwjg55LN6IOHAxU-GFkFHZyHA-IQFnoECAMQAg&usg=AOvVaw2YMix-0kcud_NIRQuCAXaK),
Michael Dore (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/08/06/could-joe-biden-pick-barack-obama-as-his-running-mate-yes-but/), Bruce Peabody (https://www.google.com/url?esrc=s&q=&rct=j&sa=U&url=https://scholarship.law.umn.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi%3Farticle%3D1053%26context%3Dheadnotes&ved=2ahUKEwjg55LN6IOHAxU-GFkFHZyHA-IQFnoECAIQAg&usg=AOvVaw1DahKCYcADkNTjU4CDgeu1)], three former White House lawyers (https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/19/AR2006101901572.html), and a recent analysis published on the popular legal website
AboveTheLaw (https://abovethelaw.com/2024/06/what-about-joe-biden-and-barack-obama-for-a-ticket/) all conclude that such a run for vice president by Obama would not be illegal.
So, at the very least, those concerned about Biden's apparent inability to win with a Biden-Harris ticket, and who believe that he might continue to refuse to step done voluntarily, should at the very least be giving serious consideration to a Plan C where Biden runs with Obama, and may (or may not) announce before the elections that he will step down as soon as he is inaugurated, argues Banzhaf.
