FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Aug. 7, 2024 - PRLog -- Members of Multiples of America spent the last weekend of July "Connecting in Kentucky" for their 63rd annual convention. Held in Louisville, the convention allowed members to network, gain leadership skills, learn about the workings of the organization, and plan for new initiatives.

Storyteller and filmmaker Graham Shelby, the keynote speaker, shared life lessons he's learned as the dad of triplets. A networking luncheon along with workshops on leadership, parenting, and sound healing offered strategies for individual and chapter growth. One special workshop focused on how multiples are a crucial part of some research studies, particularly the Louisville Twin Study, internationally recognized as one of the oldest, largest, and most comprehensive studies of child development and aging.

Business sessions at the convention brought the opportunity to review the work of the organization over the last year, and elect a new board of directors. Mary Adcock, from Hutchinson, KS, was elected President. Other officers elected include:

Claudia Contreras, Communications & Marketing Vice President, Murrieta, CA
Kim Simonich, Events Vice President, Pepperell, MA
Missy Khan, Finance Vice President, Houston, TX
Sara Barr, Media & Publications Vice President, Lexington, SC
Pam Edelman, Research & Membership Development Vice President, Fort Myers, FL

In her installation speech, President Adcock urged members to continue building the story of Multiples of America.

"It's a story that started 64 years ago," she said. "Over the years as times have changed, we've been challenged to push forward, to uncover new ways to tell that story, to develop new avenues of support and research. But at its heart, it's the same story of support and connection."

Adcock shared a vision of working to create a new leadership pipeline, build more avenues of connection, and expand awareness of the organization. She urged members to spark growth and change in their local chapters and for Multiples of America.

"Each of us can be a spark for Multiples of America," she said. "Be the spark that shares the message about the resources available, about the value of joining in research,…about the power of belonging to a club.

"…It takes time, talent, patience, ideas. It takes a willingness to dream, to draw up a blueprint, think out of the box," Adcock added. "Be the spark. Help us continue building our story…One guarantee: If we go together, we can go farther."
