LOS ANGELES - Oct. 13, 2024 - PRLog -- The award-winning JazzAntiqua Dance & Music Ensemble returns to the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center with RITUAL OF RHYTHM a richly textured showcase of concert jazz dance that celebrates jazz music as the rhythm of life. In honor of JazzAntiqua's 30th anniversary as jazz ambassadors, the evening features choreography by artistic director Pat Taylor, company artists, and special guests Bernard Brown and Tashara Gavin-Moorehead. RITUAL OF RHYTHM embraces the freedom, self-determination, community and joy at the heart of the life affirming expression called Jazz.

Presented in association with Ebony Repertory Theatre and Dance@theHolden, RITUAL OF RHYTHM takes place Saturday, November 16, 2024 - 8:00 p.m. at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center, 4718 West Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles. One of a select few companies committed to the presentation of concert jazz dance and exploring the conversation between jazz music and movement, JazzAntiqua Dance & Music Ensemble was founded in 1993 to celebrate jazz as a vital thread in the cultural fabric of African American history and heritage, and a defining element of the American experience. The company has performed at the renowned Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival (MA), Hollywood Bowl (Playboy Jazz Festivals), CIAEI Theater (Brazil), Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Irvine Barclay Theatre, California African American Museum, The Ford Theater, Luckman Fine Arts Complex, Lehman Performing Arts Center (NY), Southern Theatre (MN), Mesa Performing Arts Center (AZ) and Dance Mission Theatre (San Francisco).

JazzAntiqua's community arts engagement initiatives include LEGACY Jazz Project for teen dancers, intergenerational conversation series The Community Salon, and The Movement in the Music™ - a daylong celebration of jazz dance.  The company has received support from the National Endowment for the Arts, California Arts Council, Black Art Futures Fund, Dance USA, California Humanities, Doolittle Foundation, and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions.
