SGS Highlights RED Cybersecurity EN 18031 Series Standard Published but not yet Harmonized

GENEVA - Sept. 4, 2024 - PRLog -- SGS, the world's leading testing, inspection and certification company, has provided details of the progress of the new EN 18031 series of cybersecurity standards for the EU's Radio Equipment Directive (RED).

The EN 18031 standard series was approved in a formal European Committee for Standardization (CEN) vote, but failure to pass harmonization standards assessments means that applicable products will still require certification from a Notified Body. These new standards are considered to provide a benchmark for the Cyber Resilience Act.

Three essential EN 18031 cybersecurity requirements were activated by the publication of Delegated Regulation 2022/30/EU, allowing for industry alignment with the RED directive's 3.3 (d), (e) and (f) cybersecurity specifications. Enforcement will begin from August 2025.
