SANTA ANA, Calif. - Sept. 4, 2024 - PRLog -- HONORING AND REMEMBERING THE HEROES OF 9/11

Santa Ana, CA – Saturday, September 7 at 9am
Fairhaven Memorial Park (https://www.dignitymemorial.com/funeral-homes/santa-ana-ca/fairhaven-memorial-park-mortuary/5358) will be hosting our 3rd Annual "2,200 Steps" Walk to honor the first responders who lost their lives in the World Trade Centers.

Fairhaven invites members of the community to begin their day by taking 2,200 steps, symbolic of the 110 flight heroic ascent that firefighters took on September 11, 2001. Participants will walk the slightly over one-mile route through Fairhaven's beautiful memorial park.

On 9/11, 343 FDNY firefighters gave their lives in the World Trade Centers. "2,200 Steps is a way to never forget one of the most tragic days in American history" said Stephanie Alvarez, General Manager of Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary. "We hope that our community will join us to walk and to remember."

Opening Ceremony—9:00am
Walk Begins—9:30am
Walk Concludes—10:30am

The ceremony will include invocation by Orange City Fire Chaplain Ric Olsen, a message honoring our heroes from Santa Ana Councilmember Jessie Lopez and Orange County Fire Authority Chief Jim Henery. Orange County Fire Authority Engine #71 will hoist the American Flag as Bugles Across America plays "Taps". Emily Alvarez of Fairhaven Memorial Park will also perform a patriotic song.
