The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago (KCCoC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and organize Korean cultural, artistic, educational, and social activities. KCCoC seeks to be a community landmark where people of all ethnicities can come together and explore Korean traditions and culture through various classes, programs and events.

The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago's BISCO Hall Performing Arts Center, located in Wheeling, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago). will host its grand opening celebration on Saturday, September 14, 2024. This milestone event celebrates the completion of a major project five years in the making, marking a significant achievement for the Korean American community. This ambitious project began with a great support of the Bisco Charitable Foundation with $1.5 million fund, and a matching fund from many dedicated board members, fundraising events and supporters. Along with the NEH (National Endowment for the Humanities) grant of $600,000 and the Koreans Overseas Foundation grant of $150,000, the Center has embarked on this exciting project with a total budget of $4.2 million.

The newly constructed BISCO Hall will feature 8,800 SF with a stage to showcase theater arts, music and dance with a capacity for up to 400 seats. The space is also available for banquet type events for up to 250 guests.

As part of the grand opening celebration, guests will have the opportunity to experience two major exhibitions. Symbolism in Korean Art and Culture, presented in collaboration with the Field Museum, offers a unique glimpse into Korea's rich cultural heritage.

In addition, Navigating Duality: Symbolism and Identity in Korean American Art will showcase the works of Chicago's Korean American artists, delving into themes of symbolism, cultural duality and identity.

Following the grand opening celebration, the BISCO Hall will host a Grand Opening Series featuring nine diverse programs over the course of 3 weeks, held every weekend. This series will continue to celebrate and showcase the rich heritage and artistic contributions of the Korean American community in Chicago, solidifying BISCO Hall as a new cultural hub.
