LOS ANGELES - Sept. 5, 2024 - PRLog -- Get ready for a night to remember as Concerned Citizens of South Central Los Angeles (CCSCLA) invites you to an exclusive double movie premiere and fundraising event on October 5, 2024, at 7:00 PM, hosted at The Beehive in Los Angeles. This private event promises to be a dynamic gathering of influential figures from the world of hip-hop, film, television, and nonprofit work, all rallying around a vital cause for our local community.

The Venue: The Beehive, a historic, Black-owned venue, is a cultural landmark that embodies the spirit and diversity of Los Angeles. On this special evening, it will set the stage for the premiere of two compelling films that not only celebrate the creative arts but also address significant social issues impacting our city.

Event Highlights:

Premiere of Not Without Alonzo: Produced by Noreen McClendon and directed by Professor Timothy Conley, this film dives into the roots of West Coast Hip-Hop, featuring insights from legendary artists like The D.O.C., DJ Yella, Ice Cube, DJ Battlecat, Kurtis Blow, DL Hughley, Arabian Prince, The Poetess, JJ Fad, and DJ Cli-N-Tel. A live Q&A with Noreen McClendon will follow the screening.

Premiere of Something About Mother: Directed by Millena Gay and written by Noreen McClendon, this film stars Lydia Cornell, Dawnn Lewis, Cleavon McClendon, and Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director and cast, providing an intimate look at the film's themes and creative journey.

Fundraising for a Cause: This event is more than just a movie night—it's a critical fundraiser co-sponsored by CCSCLA and The Sisterhood Alliance Freed & Equity (SAFE) Partnership. All proceeds will support the development of a transitional home for women returning from prison, offering them essential resources, life skills training, and access to health services to aid their reintegration into society.

Why You Should Attend:

This invitation-only event is a must for those passionate about Los Angeles' creative arts, social justice, and community empowerment. Expect to network with a diverse mix of entertainment industry influencers, nonprofit leaders, community stakeholders, government officials, and business investors, all united to spark dialogue and inspire continued investment in Los Angeles' inner-city communities.
