JINZHONG, China - Sept. 6, 2024 - PRLog -- The volume of global new ship orders was 106 ships and 3.87 million revised gross tons (CGT), up 27% year-on-year and 63% year-on-year in terms of CGT，In August 2024, Among them, China undertook 95 ships and 3.47 million CGT, ranking first with a market share of 90%; South Korea undertook 4 ships and 80,000 CGT, with a market share of only 2%.

From January to August this year, the cumulative volume of new ship orders in the world was 1454 and 42.07 million CGT, up 30% year-on-year in terms of CGT. Among them, China undertook 1,015 ships and 28.22 million CGT, with a year-on-year increase of 53% in terms of CGT and a market share of 67%, ranking first; South Korea undertook 181 ships and 8.22 million CGT, with a year-on-year increase of 14% in terms of CGT and a market share of 20%, ranking second.

By the end of August this year, global orders for new ships were 143.78 million CGT, a decrease of 690000 CGT annually. Among them, China's orders for new ships reached 77.15 million CGT, with a year-on-year increase of 15.78 million CGT, ranking first with a market share of 54%; South Korea's orders for new ships reached 39.02 million CGT, with a year-on-year increase of 340,000 CGT, ranking second with a market share of 27%.

Since 2024, China and South Korea have once again launched a fierce confrontation in the global shipbuilding market. Among them, China ranked first in January, March, April, May, June and August, while South Korea ranked first in February and July. The advantage of China's shipbuilding industry in receiving orders has been expanding. Especially in the three consecutive months from April to June, Chinese shipping companies accounted for more than 75% of the market in a single month.
