Cobb County Democratic Committee to Host "Raise Your Voice and Rejoice" Environmental Justice Event

ATLANTA - Oct. 4, 2024 - PRLog -- On October 5th, 2024, the Cobb County Democratic Committee (CCDC) will host a powerful environmental justice event in support of the Harris-Walz presidential campaign. The event, titled "Raise Your Voice and Rejoice," will take place from 3 PM to 6 PM at Suite Food Lounge located at 375 Luckie St. NW, Atlanta.

Led by CCDC Chairwoman Essence Johnson, this event will highlight critical conversations on environmental justice with some of the nation's most respected leaders in the movement. Attendees will hear from distinguished speakers, including:

• Dr. Beverly Wright, founder of the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice at Dillard University
• Dr. Femi Adesanya, founder of the Environmental Equity Information Institute
• Dr. Robert Bullard, founding director of the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice and distinguished professor of urban planning and policy at Texas Southern University

"Raise Your Voice and Rejoice" will provide attendees with tools to reaffirm environmental justice opportunities and inspire community empowerment. The event will also celebrate historic wins in the environmental justice movement and discuss what lies ahead as we approach the 2024 presidential election.

The event is expected to attract national Democratic Party surrogates (including Washington State District 7 Congresswoman Primila Jayapal), elected officers, and prominent environmental justice advocates. Fireside chat speakers include: West Atlanta Watershed Alliance founder  Dr. Na'taki Osborne-Jelks, Executive Director of the Memphis Town Community Action Group Darren Leach, Harambee House Executive Director Dr. Mildred McClain and Shiloh-Community's Pastor Timothy Williams. In addition to thought-provoking discussions, it will provide a platform for grassroots activists to share their experiences and explore strategies for promoting environmental equity in their communities.
