Follow on Google News | Holman UMC Offerings for Registered and Aspiring VotersYoung citizens in grades 3-9 can try their hand at voting on Saturday, October 12, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm with Holman's Saturday School for African American History. After light refreshments, mindfulness, and movement on the patio, students will head to the Love Education Building for workshops with Supervisor Holly Mitchell and Attorney Lydia Cincore Templeton, CEO of Children Youth and Family Collaborative. The day will culminate in a practice voting session, wrapped up by UCLA Education and Law Professor Taifha Alexander. While at Saturday School, young men aged 12-18 can register for Rites of Passage: Tools for Life, a program of Holman United Methodist Church and the Junior Gents of Alpha Phi Alpha, designed for people beginning their journey into manhood. Throughout the academic year, Rites of Passage will offer workshops in financial literacy, social and spiritual development, mental health and wellness, time management, and entrepreneurship. Young men may register for the program, beginning at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 12, in the Holman Library.
