This was part of the London Political Summit & Awards 2024,

Professor Devani, said that the IYC President has done well in flying the flag of Ijaw youths intellectually to their admiration in the UK, and therefore deserves the prestigious award.

Sir Jonathan, the IYC President, who in the Summit, used the opportunity to call for global action to ameliorate the sufferings of Niger Deltans which is occasioned by oil activities in their environment, expressed gratitude to the organisers of the program for recognising his little efforts in rewriting the story of Ijaws and the Niger Deltans.

He said, while he was doing his best to mobilise Ijaw youths to intellectually struggle for political and economic emancipation of their people, he never knew his efforts were acknowledged and appreciated in faraway London, stressing that the honour done him, will only strengthen his resolve to leave no stone unturned in the struggle to make life enjoyable for Ijaws and the Niger Deltans.

Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri, who said the award is not just for him alone but the entire Ijaw youths, also used the opportunity to thank Ijaw youths for supporting his leadership, saying although in every movement of a people towards their promised land, there are challenges and temptations along the way, but in the end they will be victorious only if they are united, determined and believe in God.
