Local College Student Models at Rummage Sale to Help Raise Scholarship FundsBy: Costa Mesa Women's Club Lena, a student at California State University Channel Islands, was sent the notice of the rummage sale by her mother. She easily fitted in with the enthusiastic women of the 103-year-old Costa Mesa Women's Club, whose service to the community includes raising funds for scholarships, art events, and other philanthropic work. Also lending a hand was local photographer Matt Fitt, who donated his time and services to photograph Lena, along with many of the high-quality items that contributed to the rummage sale. The annual Costa Mesa Women's Club Rummage Sale has multiple goals: to engage with the community for donations; to raise money for scholarships, cultural events, the hungry, and the homeless; to provide good quality items to local families and individuals on a budget or on the streets; and to donate unsold items to the less fortunate in the community. "These initiatives enrich the local community by fostering education, creativity, and opportunities for residents," said 2nd Vice President of the club, Amelia Painter. If this sounds like your kind of place, our next monthly luncheon will be held on Friday, October 18th at 11:30 am at the clubhouse on 610 W. 18th Street, Costa Mesa. Come and enjoy a healthy meal and an interesting program. # # # For more information: Photo Credit: Matt Fitt (https://mattfitt.com/ End
