Follow on Google News | Better Together welcomes Peter Rivera to board of directorsBy: Better Together Rivera is the president of Gaea Landscaping, a full-service landscaping and maintenance company serving Southwest Florida. Rooted in humble beginnings, Rivera began his career at 15 years old, mowing lawns with his father to help support their family. Growing up, his parents instilled in him the value of hard work and resilience, which helped shape his journey and led him to establish Gaea Landscaping. He believes his upbringing fueled his passion for giving back, too. "Getting involved with Better Together opened my eyes to their profound community impact. Seeing firsthand how Better Together provides guidance and support to those in need moved me deeply, motivating me to contribute both financially and as a volunteer," said Rivera. "I'm committed to encouraging the younger generation to give back, support their communities and understand the importance of leaving the world a better place than they found it." Better Together's board of directors supports the nonprofit in furthering its mission to help parents who are going through a hard time to keep their kids out of foster care, find work and address the root causes of their struggle so that they can reunite as a family with the tools and support system to thrive. Rivera will serve alongside board members including Tarren Bragdon, Doug Campbell, Richard Vaughan, Christian Spilker and Andrea Saputo Cox. "We are thrilled to have Peter continue supporting Better Together and join our trusted board of directors," said Megan Rose, CEO of Better Together. "Whenever there is a need, Peter shows up. Whether it's sponsoring an event to support our mission or going door-to-door to help families through natural disasters, he is always there. We are so grateful for his contributions and cannot wait to see his continued impacts on Better Together and the community." With the help of donors and hundreds of volunteers and church communities, Better Together builds lasting support systems that help families cope with hardships – such as job loss, substance abuse, homelessness and jail time – and ensures that children are cared for in a safe home until the family can be reunited. To date, the program has served over 10,000 children and kept 98% of families served through mentoring and hosting out of the state system, while helping nearly 40,000 job seekers across 24 states find employment.
