With the help of donors and hundreds of volunteers and church communities, Better Together builds lasting support systems that help families cope with hardships – such as job loss, substance abuse, homelessness and jail time – and ensures that children are cared for in a safe home until the family can be reunited. To date, the program has served over 10,000 children and kept 98% of families served through mentoring and hosting out of the state system, while helping nearly 40,000 job seekers across 24 states find employment. At job fairs hosted by Better Together, two-thirds of attendees get a job interview, and 1 in 4 receive a job offer on the spot. Some 70% find work within six weeks. Registration is now open for hiring employers and job seekers to participate in the November event. The church-based job fairs not only connect job seekers with local employers who are ready to hire, but also provide resources to facilitate stronger connections and more hires. Free one-on-one job coaching sessions are available to job seekers to review resumes and interviewing skills, and additional services will be available onsite. The Nov. 14 job fair will take place at New Springs Church, located at 11464 W. Sample Road in Coral Springs.
