Universities, Especially in D.C., Should Prepare for Expected Post-Election Violence

Here Are Basic Steps They Should Take Now, Remembering Recent On-Campus Debacles

WASHINGTON - Oct. 31, 2024 - PRLog -- With an overwhelming majority of the public expecting post-election violence, especially in the D.C. area where some residents will be leaving the city, and with the memory of the disruptive, very expensive, and highly embarrassing Palestine-Israel debacles which occurred on many campuses just months earlier, universities should begin planning ahead, rather than being caught flat footed and with their pants down once again when such violence occurs on or near their campuses following Election Day,, security experts warn.

It's really not difficult or expensive to take a few simple, logical, and basic steps to reduce the risk of serious harm to students, faculty, and property from this violence which is expected to occur no matter who wins - or even claims to win - the forthcoming presidential election, says public interest law professor John Banzhaf.

Banzhaf, a former security officer and security consultant, prepared an internationally published report about school shootings, and steps universities can and should take to reduce the risks to students and faculty.
How Can Universities Tackle the Threat of Active Shooters? (https://www.universityworldnews.com/post.php?story=202210...)
and in the past he has made a number of suggestions to improve campus security which his own university has adopted.o take all reasonable steps to protect their students and faculty for what is now clearly a very foreseeable risk; especially considering the violence which recently occurred on American campuses over events occurring thousands of miles away.

So Banzhaf has shared some of the recommendations he proposed to his own George Washington University [GWU], some of which have already been adopted and implemented, since it's not to late for other universities - especially those likewise located in D.C. where violence is more likely to occur than elsewhere - to put into place:
