CURE Childhood Cancer Raises Over $107,000

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Nov. 20, 2024 - PRLog -- CURE Childhood Cancer, the only organization providing financial and emotional support to local children with cancer and their families while funding critical research for pediatric oncology, raised over $107,000 at its second annual Homecoming. This adults-only fundraiser consisted of a night of touchdowns, tasty treats, and heartwarming stories, all for a crucial mission.

The fun took place at the Forest City Gun Club with an open bar, delicious tailgate-inspired food, and live music by the Bourbon Boys. Guests cheered on their favorite college teams on multiple screens and participated in exciting raffles and games.

"Every dollar raised brings us closer to bringing home a cure for childhood cancer," said Mandy Garola, CURE Vice President of South Georgia. "We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of our community."

The emcee for the evening's festivities was news anchor Frank "Big Frank" Sulkowski of WJCL-TV. Bulloch County's Alex Grovenstein, aka "Auction Alex," who trained at the Certified Auctioneers Institute at Indiana University, facilitated an energetic live auction. A special halftime program featured a moving video presentation showcasing the journey of a brave child and family battling pediatric cancer.

"They are a powerful reminder of the real lives impacted by this disease and they showcase the incredible impact of our supporters. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we are excited to share that Homecoming raised an incredible $107,000 breaking our record from last year."

CURE programming also highlights the impact of Precision Medicine, a targeted approach that utilizes genetic testing to personalize treatment plans. CURE has proudly funded more than $14 million towards Precision Medicine research, offering a more effective approach to fighting childhood cancer.
