Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens Hosted "No More" Domestic Violence Lunch & Learn with Divas in Defense

ATLANTA - Nov. 27, 2024 - PRLog -- Earlier this month, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens continued his commitment to making Atlanta #OneSafeCity by hosting the ATL "No More" Domestic Violence Awareness Campaign's Lunch & Learn. Launched earlier this summer, the campaign addresses the alarming rise in domestic violence incidents by equipping Atlanta residents with accessible resources and education while highlighting the impactful work of local organizations.

The Lunch & Learn, designed for city employees, focused on recognizing warning signs of domestic violence, accessing support, and identifying actionable ways to help prevent abuse. As Mayor Dickens emphasized in a previous media interview, "As a community, we must pay attention and we must have these tough conversations. By discussing it, recognizing the signs, providing resources—and simply being available—we have the power to end domestic violence, together."

This event  featured a dynamic self-defense class led by Divas in Defense, a self-defense training group dedicated to empowering women and girls to protect themselves and build confidence. Divas in Defense founder Cole Parker facilitated an engaging and impactful session aimed at equipping attendees with essential safety tools.

"Partnering with the 'No More' campaign was a natural fit for Divas in Defense," said Cole Parker. "Our mission has always been to educate and empower women of all ages to protect themselves and their families. By joining forces with Mayor Dickens and this campaign, we're able to take real steps toward a safer Atlanta."

Divas in Defense, founded by two brothers deeply impacted by witnessing domestic violence, offers a variety of training programs focused on self-defense, non-lethal weapons training, and workplace safety for women aged 4 and older. Their efforts align seamlessly with the goals of the "No More" campaign to foster community awareness and action.

Through initiatives like these, the City of Atlanta is demonstrating a proactive approach to combating domestic violence and empowering its residents with knowledge and resources.
