Khadakwasla Ultra becomes a must run event in ultra marathon circuit

PUNE, India - Nov. 28, 2024 - PRLog -- Khadakwasla Ultra, a long distance running event organized by Bavdhan Brigade concluded on 17th November 2024, in the scenic surroundings of Khadakwasla Dam, Pune. Co-sponsored by The Nature Mukaiwadi, the race featured competitions across five categories: 25 km, 35 km, 53 km, 75 km, and an inaugural 100 km ultra-distance event. The 53km route encircled the Khadakwasla backwaters while the 75 and 100km routes passed along the serene waters of Varasgaon and Panshet dams. The race attracted running enthusiasts from across the country.

This year, the organizers incorporated advanced technology, including app-based training program during preparation phase and also navigation on GPS-enabled watches on the event day, thus providing a seamless experience for runners.

The highlight of the 100 km race was Spain's Guillermo Antonanjas who claimed the title in the men's category, while Preeti Lala from Mumbai emerged victorious in the women's division. The 75 km race saw Rajnish Kumar clinch the win, setting a new course record.
Ms. Preeti Lala, the women's 100 km champion, remarked, "The challenging uphill trails in this race make it an excellent preparatory ground for international ultramarathons like South Africa's Comrades Marathon."

Runners from cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Panaji, and various parts of Maharashtra participated, showcasing exceptional sportsmanship and team spirit.

The Khadakwasla Ultra, with its breathtaking natural trails and meticulously planned organization by runner-enthusiast organizers, is steadily carving a niche for itself in the ultramarathon circuit.
