Follow on Google News | Carols to be livestreamed to aged care homes in Moonee ValleyThanks to a grant from Moonee Valley City Council, those people otherwise unable to get to the concert won't miss out on a Christmas singalong in their neighbourhood. Western Region Concert Band Director Andrew Houston OAM said the idea to broadcast the band's Christmas concert came from wanting to give back to the community that has been supporting them for many years. "We've been performing a Carols concert every year for at least 24 years," Andrew said. "It's been a favourite among our senior residents, and we wanted to make sure they didn't miss out." "Thanks to Moonee Valley City Council, who has supported us with a grant, we are able to livestream our concert to those with reduced mobility who otherwise wouldn't be able to see us play." The concert will take place on Sunday, 22 December at 6.30pm and feature three local choirs, SingWest, DynamiX and HarmoniX, special guest vocalists tenor Michael Lapiña, Clarence Marshall, Rachel Smith, Ashleigh Marshall and Belinda Reid, and a very special visit from Santa and Mrs Claus. "Our band and choirs are all made up of volunteers and so to be able to do this for the community is very special for us," Andrew said. "We'd also like to thank the aged care homes across Moonee Valley who are supporting us to make this happen." Senior residents and residents with a disability living in aged care facilities across Moonee Valley will be able to see the concert at their facility. For everyone else, make sure you get along to the concert at the Clocktower Centre in Moonee Ponds.
