Space Force Selects Nokomis for Advance Expeditionary Space Domain Awareness Contract

PITTSBURGH - Feb. 12, 2025 - PRLog -- The United States Space Force has selected Nokomis to develop next generation advanced Expeditionary Space Domain Awareness (ExSDA) capability. The goal of ExSDA is to establish a comprehensive system for monitoring and safeguarding activities in space. This system will continuously monitor Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and beyond, detecting potential threats and analyzing patterns of activity. It will enable rapid response to emerging threats, integrating seamlessly with existing assets and international partners.

The project aims to enhance Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and the utilization of multi-domain assets that monitor objects in space. Nokomis will work with the U.S. Space Force to develop a system that can continuously monitor LEO space vehicles with the ability to maintain tracking custody, analyze patterns of activity, detect unanticipated orbital maneuvers and potential threats to U.S Space Force assets.

Nokomis' Hiawatha Radio Frequency (RF) sensor system has been used to passively detect LEO and Sun Synchronous Orbit (SSO) satellites from their weak unintended RF emissions and will be used to develop a prototype Nokomis ExSDA (NExSDA) system. Hiawatha provides an optimal basis for a system that will complement existing space surveillance optical and radar assets to detect, characterize, track and maintain custody of LEO, SSO and GEO satellites.
